The 2006 Frensham Scarecrow Festival took place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend - Saturday 29th April to Monday 1st May.
There were 39 different FULL-SIZE Scarecrows to be found in Shortfield Common, Shortfield and Millbridge, each based on a Nursery Rhyme!
The public judged the Three Blind Mice as their favourite.
Well over a thousand visitors attended the festival and contributed to raising around £2,000. This money will go towards the fitting out costs for the planned new community-run shop.
Some thirty prizes were awarded for the adult and children’s quizzes and the raffle, including dinner-for-two at the Hollybush Pub.
Over 200 of the charming handmade miniscarecrows were sold and homemade soups, and tea and cakes from the WI, were available.
The festival was greatly enjoyed by villagers and visitors alike and it was decided to repeat it in 2007 and 2008! See the Events Calendar.
