Background:
In January 2008 Frensham Village Shop celebrated its twelfth Anniversary as a Community-run shop, serving the parishes of Frensham and Dockenfield near Farnham in Surrey.
Until the end of 2007 this small, friendly shop served the local community from what used to be the village butcher’s shop..
Local developers Arcadia, in conjunction with the Parish Council, have recently submitted a Planning Application for the existing garage opposite that site in Shortfield Common Road. If approved this will result in a development of nine two-bedroom houses and a building to hold the Shop and a Parish Council room.
However this is a couple of years away from fruition and in the interim the shop has moved to a 40ft long portacabin style building in the carpark of Hollowdene Recreation Ground, which is providing an excellent temporary home for the shop and PO.
With a professional manager, and a post-mistress, the shop is also reliant on a large band of part-time volunteer assistants without whom the operation would not be viable. .
